5 Outside the Box Fitness Essentials

When you think of items needed to fulfill your New Year’s resolution of building a healthier and stronger body, you typically think of the standard workout equipment such as resistance bands, ab roller, free weights and even a stationary bike or treadmill. There are other items that you may not typically think of that are closely aligned with your overall goal. I tried out a few of them over the past few weeks and have a few top recommendations to help you fulfill your 2022 fitness goals and achieve the summer body of your dreams.

Since I received my pair, I have used them every day I’ve worked out and I have to say they are among the most comfortable shoes I’ve owned. They are also quite stylish for those fashion minded gym rats.

Dosha Mat – This item took me a while to get used to, but after using it for a little over a week, I’ve started to notice a difference. They offer dozens of unique prints and bold colors including my favorite, the blue camouflage meggings. They are extremely comfortable and stylish and fit my body perfectly.

Bowflex Weights – I know I mentioned in the opening paragraph that I wanted to feature out of the ordinary workout tools, and dumbbells don’t seem to fit the bill at first glance. I decided to bite the bullet and order these during a Black Friday sale, as they are a bit more expensive, but they are well worth the investment. The set of dumbbells is exactly what I needed to encompass a well-rounded workout. The adjustable weights are perfect for any exercise level and all you need for comprehensive full-body strength training. I have used them for almost every exercise in the past week and I already see results in my chest, abs, shoulders, and arms.

Les Mills + - I thought about hiring a personal trainer to push me to achieve my fitness goals, but then stumbled upon a program called Les Mills +. I was familiar with the brand as the local YMCA uses their classes in their group exercises classes. They were offering a free 30-day trial and access to over 1500 online workouts - including yoga, strength, cardio, HIIT, dance and more. They also offer 3 or 12-week workout plans to help you achieve your goals. It is like having a personal trainer in your living room. For those who live in colder climates, this is a great alternative to trekking to the gym during a snowstorm.

Remember, summer bodies are made in the winter!
