Full of stunning natural beauty and unforgettable experiences, Saugatuck/Douglas/Fennville—the renowned Art Coast of Michigan—delights during the fall. Indulge in a craft beverage tour or spend the day strolling through our many galleries and boutiques. Enjoy enchanting autumn activities like apple picking and navigating an intricate corn maze at Crane’s Orchards or hiking the sandy trails at Saugatuck Dunes State Park to see the fall colors in all their glory. Early fall still brings an abundance of sunshine—perfect for relaxing on our award-winning beaches or exploring our scenic waterways. But if you’re looking to add different kinds of adventures to your fall getaway, check out these special activities and events.

Mark your calendar for October 10-13 for Fennville's Annual Goose Festival, a family-friendly event featuring carnival rides, games, live music, a parade, a 5K run, food trucks, and more. On October 12, head to Douglas for their annual Oktoberfest celebration, where you’ll find delicious food, local crafts, live music, and dance performances throughout the day. Don’t miss the quintessential Art Coast experience—the 48th Annual Fall Gallery Stroll—also happening on October 12-13. Stroll through dozens of galleries and artists’ studios as they extend their hours and feature special exhibits and activities. Chat with the artists, watch live demonstrations, enjoy live music, and sample delicious local bites and refreshments while expanding your artistic tastes.

And, on October 26, dress up in your Halloween finery and line up for one of the most unique parades you will ever experience—the Douglas Halloween Parade for Adults. The party starts at 10 pm when the Giant Pumpkin King rises from the ashes to officially commence the festivities. For years, this outrageous, mature-themed event has drawn thousands of spectators from around the country to gawk and marvel at the unleashed creativity. After the parade, get ready for more outrageous Halloween fun at The Dunes Resort, one of the largest LGBTQIA+ resorts in the country. Join us for the freakiest carnival this side of Lake Michigan, as Nightmare on Blue Star presents: The Dunes' Carnival of Whores. Sing Karaoke, dance the night away, and enter the midnight costume contest. This wickedly wonderful event is for big ghouls and boys only.
