Celebrate the Holiday Season in Springfield, Illinois

Downtown Springfield Inc. presents the annual Old Capitol Holiday Walks including a variety of special events each weekend throughout the holiday season.


The Holiday Walks kick off on November 25th with the Lighting of the Tree in downtown Springfield.


The Springfield Visitors Center will be hosting Mr. & Mrs. Lincoln for some holiday fun, games & stories on Saturdays 11a-5p (11am-4p on November 25th).


The Illinois Product Holiday Market takes over the Y-Block (North of the Governor's Mansion) on Saturday December 2nd from 11a-6p.


Enjoy the lights and sounds of the Springfield Jaycees Holiday Lights Parade on Saturday December 2nd starting at 5:30p.


Shop for all the things you need to make your holiday party a hit at the Winter Old Capitol Farmer's Market at Union Station on Saturday December 16th from 8a-noon.


On Saturday December 16th at 6p the First Presbyterian Church will be hosting the 1850's Community Carol Sing. Join Mr. & Mrs. Lincoln for a special evening of music, worship, & a carol sing.


The Illinois Governor's Mansion is expanding their offering of tours for the Holiday Walks. The beautifully decorated mansion will offer tours Wednesday evenings 4p-7p & Saturdays 11a-3p; November 29 - December 20.


Stop by the historic Vachel Lindsay Home on Saturdays (Nov 25-Dec 16) from 1p-3p for Holiday Crafts & Storytime.


The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum will be hosting Winter Nights at the Museum Nov 25-Dec 23. The museum will host performances of The Nutcracker by The Copper Coin Ballet Company on select nights. The Prairie Winds Ensemble will entertain guests touring the "Here I Have Lived: Home in Illinois" exhibit on select days/times. There will also be a Winter Wonder Workshop with holiday arts & crafts for children.


The beautifully decorated Dana-Thomas House will offer Evening Holiday Tours on select Wednesday nights as part of the Holiday Walks. The tours last 30-45 minutes (advanced registration is required). And of course, the holidays wouldn't be complete without a visit from the big man himself...Santa. Look for Santa at the following places downtown
