Also known as “New York City’s Backyard,” the Hudson Valley is a premiere vacation destination featuring a vibrant arts and culture scene, world-class dining, fascinating historical sites and spectacular scenery all 12 months of the year.
Here in Dutchess County, in the heart of the Hudson Valley, two exciting new hotels opened in 2024: The Heartwood at Vassar in Poughkeepsie and The Inn at Bellefield in Hyde Park. Both properties are conveniently located and represent all the best of what Dutchess has to offer.
The Heartwood at Vassar: You’ll find unmatched comfort and refined elegance in each of the 50 rooms and suites at the brand-new Heartwood on the picturesque campus of Vassar College. Surround yourself with sophisticated, modern amenities as you immerse yourself in the timeless charm of the Hudson Valley. As it does not employ any fossil fuels and is carbon neutral, The Heartwood is Vassar’s first net-zero-emission building and one of the first buildings of its type in the region. A carefully curated collection of art by Vassar alums adorns the walls and shelves of the common areas. The Salt Line restaurant is a warm and welcoming place to meet for a delectable meal made with locally sourced ingredients. The Heartwood is about a 10-minute walk to Vassar’s Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center, which is home to 22,000 works of art, including paintings by the leading artists of the Hudson River School movement of the mid-1800s, as well as masterpieces of the 20th century by Georgia O’Keeffe, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso and Jackson Pollock.

The Inn at Bellefield: Located right across the street from the Culinary Institute of America and only minutes away from the Roosevelt historic sites, the Inn at Bellefield is the ideal place to stay for visitors who wish to explore the many popular attractions and admire the breathtaking views in the Hudson Valley. The Inn features 137 spacious suites that are perfect for travelers planning to spend a night, a weekend, or even a few weeks. The suites include full kitchens, ergonomic workstations, thoughtfully appointed living spaces and elevated amenities.
Both hotels will be offering $99 per night stays as part of Dutchess Tourism’s Hotel Week 2025 promotion, which runs Jan. 26-Feb. 9, 2025. Booking begins Dec. 2, 2024.
