Making its long awaited debut on Sept. 30, 2021 in the movie capital of the world, The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures will give visitors the opportunity to “go inside the movies.” The museum will be the world’s premier institution devoted to exploring the art and science of movies and the film industry. The 300,000 square foot museum and dynamic film center will be home to permanent exhibitions showcasing the creative process of filmmaking, as well as a diverse schedule of temporary exhibitions, two film and performance theatres, an education studio, and public and private event space. The city has also seen a slew of new and upcoming hotel openings this past year including the Pendry West Hollywood, The Godfrey Hotel Hollywood, Downtown LA Proper Hotel and more. Opening September 27, the Fairmont Century Plaza will open with 400 rooms and 63 luxury residences. The hotel is rich in Hollywood history and glamour, having originally opened in 1966 on the 20th Century Fox lot with high tech amenities, including colored TVs in every room (a first for this time!) This fall, guests can stroll from Minoru Yamasaki’s lovingly restored mid-century modern hotel to innovative outdoor retail and dining establishments. Guests will be treated to a gourmet café, a French brasserie, a rooftop bar and pool, 14,000-square-foot spa and a walkable, “city-within-a-city” atmosphere.

From October 4-17, Indian Wells welcomes back the annual BNP Paribas Open professional tennis tournament featuring some of the world's best talent gathered in the desert. Spectators can enjoy everything from day passes to fully curated series passes. Additionally, from October 14-17, visitors can celebrate all things mid-century modern design with the infamous Modernism Week Fall Preview - a four-day long “mini-Modernism Week” featuring more than 50 events, including tours, talks, and parties in unique locations not regularly open to the public. Debuting on Sept. 1, My Park Moment is a free attraction at the Presidio that will feature people from all backgrounds across the country loving their favorite parks. More than 400 images will be on view outdoors at four sites within easy walking distance in the Presidio, presented in collaboration with New York-based non-profit Photoville. The winning shots, picked by a distinguished panel of creators and community leaders, are from everyday park goers, youth, and professional photographers alike, and capture the beauty of the great outdoors and the joy that time in nature can bring. The My Park Moment photo show, which will be on display for a year, will also be a great introduction to the Presidio Tunnel Tops development ahead of its spring 2022 opening. Additionally, San Francisco welcomes the return of it's beloved music festival - Outside Lands - on Oct. 29-31 featuring top acts like The Strokes, Lizzo, Tame Impala, J.Balvin and more.

Later this year, the much-anticipated Comic-Con Museum is slated to open in Balboa Park, allowing visitors to experience the ultra-popular convention year round. Museum-goers can expect 25,000 square-feet dedicated to rotating exhibits; a 6,000-square-foot education center; a 4K video theater and presentation space; and more. Located in the heart of La Jolla, Cormorant Boutique Hotel, which was formerly the La Jolla Inn, will combine a fresh, modern, coastal-chic design with upscale, tech-forward amenities in it’s 26 guest rooms and rooftop lounge, when it debuts this fall. Additionally, La Jolla's long standing favorite - Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa - is debuting a slew of new programming for the fall including:
· Chef Dinner Series: Bringing together some of San Diego’s most notable chefs, Estancia La Jolla is hosting a Guest Chef Series, where attendees can enjoy a decadent coursed pairing dinner prepared by locally-celebrated chefs. In addition to the food, chefs will chat with guests about their inspiration for the dishes. Upcoming fall dates include Chef Ian Tenzer and Beau Du Bois from Marisi Italiano on Sept. 14, Chef Sara Harris from Herb & Sea on Oct. 5, and Chef Duval Warner from Ranch 45 on Oct. 26.
· Halloween: Estancia will host its first-ever Bridgerton Masquerade Halloween Soirée on Sunday October 31 from 5-9 p.m. Over-indulge in an evening featuring live entertainment, performances, unlimited food and beverage experiences. Huntington Beach
This fall, Huntington Beach will host the annual U.S. Open of Surfing. Coming off of the Olympics, surfing is one of the country's hottest sports right now and there is no better place to celebrate than in Surf City USA. In anticipation of California Surfing Day on Sept. 20 and the U.S. Open of Surfing, Pasea Hotel & Spa is located in close proximity to the competition and some of Surf City’s best waves. The property recently debuted new surf-centric program including a “Surf Massage” at Aarna Spa which features a sea salt scrub, followed by a deep tissue sports massage, all set to sounds of ocean waves. Additionally, surf lessons are available for hotel guests in partnership with Learn to Surf HB.
