Fall in Love with Topeka

Fall brings to light a new perspective on natural beauty: autumn leaves, distinct, drably dramatic tones and an exquisite golden hour – nature’s perfect filter. And Topeka, the Capital City of Kansas, might just be the greatest example of this.

Want a walk in the woods? Enjoy a tranquil wooded hike while you take in the fall foliage at Kaw River State Park trails, near the Governor’s Mansion. While in that neck of the woods, be sure to stop by the banks of the Kansas River and drop your canoe or kayak in the water for a quick float. Seeking historic ambiance mingled among a well cultivated garden? Visit Ward Meade at Old Prairie Town, check out the Old Drug Store for a phosphate or a variety of sweets. A fun romp for the whole family awaits.

Looking for a splash of color of another sort? Dig into local art and antiques in the North Topeka (NOTO) Arts & Entertainment District. While you’re there, order a gourmet grilled cheese at The Wheel Barrel or a craft brew at the Norsemen Brewing Co. For even more color, check out the Equality House. This rainbow house is a beacon for pride in the community. It is also a majorly Insta-worthy destination, so have your favorite filter at the ready!
