Illinois Office of Tourism Launches New Spring/Summer Campaign and Enjoy Illinois Magazine

Just in time for peak travel season, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO), Office of Tourism has launched its latest spring/summer advertising campaign, along with a new edition of its free, biannual travel magazine, Enjoy Illinois.
Building on the success of the state’s award-winning “Middle of Everything” campaign, this new effort shines a spotlight on some of Illinois’ most iconic and scenic destinations. From the world-famous skyline of Chicago to the sandstone bluffs of Giant City State Park in Makanda, and the picturesque views of the Mississippi River in Grafton, the campaign highlights the wide variety of experiences available across the state during its most vibrant months.
“With a focus on dynamic urban energy, diverse experiences, and scenic outdoor adventures, this new campaign showcases the incredible range of experiences waiting for travelers in Illinois,” said DCEO Director Kristin Richards. “Our state is a place where vibrant cities meet breathtaking nature, offering something for everyone—whether you're visiting or calling it home, Illinois is an ideal destination for all.”
The campaign launches today across 20 media markets in Illinois and seven neighboring states, with additional exposure in national markets such as Denver, San Francisco, and Atlanta. Television ads will air nationwide on cable, and a Spanish-language version is being featured on streaming platforms in key markets.
Support for the campaign spans digital, social media, and audio platforms, as well as digital and print media across local, regional, and national publications. A strong out-of-home presence includes highway billboards, city-level signage, and displays at major airports like O’Hare and LaGuardia. Travelers can also catch glimpses of Illinois in places like Times Square in New York City, and in high-visibility placements throughout Atlanta, San Francisco, and Denver. To reflect the state’s commitment to diversity, the campaign includes media buys on African American and LGBTQIA+ content platforms.

Alongside the campaign, the Enjoy Illinois Spring/Summer 2025 magazine is now available in both digital and print formats. The magazine is packed with travel inspiration and ideas to help visitors make the most of the season, from luxurious stays in Chicago to scenic outdoor escapes in Southern Illinois. Readers will find expert travel tips and some of the most Instagram-worthy spots in the state.
This issue’s cover features a beautiful view of Chicago’s skyline as seen from Lincoln Park’s South Pond, setting the stage for a season full of scenic exploration. A new pet-friendly section—marked with helpful pawprint icons—makes it easy for travelers with pets to find accommodations, attractions, and experiences that welcome furry companions.
For those who love a good road trip, a special 12-page insert pays tribute to Illinois’ stretch of historic Route 66. Titled “The Mother Road at 100,” the feature looks ahead to the centennial celebration in 2026, highlighting classic diners, quirky roadside stops, and can't-miss attractions along the way.
