LGBTQ Travelers Set to Explore Charleston this Spring



Charleston is a charming and captivating LGBTQI+ destination, especially during the vibrant spring season. There are plenty of activities that cater to everyone, from world-class tennis and art performances at Spoleto to exquisite dining and outdoor adventures. Whether you prefer a stroll along Charleston's historic Battery or the breathtaking beaches, you'll be enchanted by the sights and scents. Take the chance to explore Charleston this spring!


Spoleto Festival USA, America's premier performing arts festival, has announced that Sasha Velour’s The Big Reveal Live Show will join the festival's star-studded lineup this year. You can catch Velour's performance by attending the festival from May 24 to June 9, 2024.


Charleston is a city that celebrates pride throughout the year! This spring, the AFFA Gala commemorated 25 years of advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community. Another notable event is the Queer Youth Prom, presented by We Are Family, South Carolina's oldest organization that serves LGBTQ+ youth. This event provides an opportunity for middle and high school students to dance, have fun, and build connections within the community.


Park Circle Pride will be held in North Charleston for the 5th year in a row. This week-long celebration is dedicated to the LGBTQI+ community and features an extensive lineup of events. It is one of the largest and most varied pride schedules in the South. The events include drag brunches, trivia, dancing, workshops, an art walk, a poetry stage, restaurant specials, panels, karaoke, a vendor market, a youth fest, a cabaret show, bingo, dance parties, drag storytime, a pride service, and many more. Park Circle Pride is expanding their programming this year from the previous year, which included over 26 events and 22 participating businesses. Park Circle Pride 2024 plans to host over 40 inclusive events throughout the week, with the majority of events being free to attend and a select few being ticketed. The festivities will begin with a Pride flag raising and kickoff at Commonhouse Aleworks in Park Circle on Tuesday, June 4.


If you want constant entertainment in Charleston, you can check out some exciting drag performances at various local establishments. Here are some options for you: Diva Royale Drag Queen Show and Illusions The Drag Queen Show are captivating shows in Charleston. Indulge in sensational burlesque-style performances, hilarious comedy acts, and stunning female celebrity impersonations. These shows are held regularly at Aura Latin Club on most Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Dudley’s on Ann is the place to be for a warm and welcoming spot. With regular drag shows and a friendly crowd, you'll feel right at home in no time. Point Break Coffee & Drive-Thru in James Island offers an enjoyable experience with its monthly Drag Bingo event, hosted by the talented local Queen Ava Clear. Well Hung Vineyard proudly presents its themed drag shows that are not only entertaining but also exciting. Get ready to have a fantastic time. “Spicy Saturday Drag Show at Tin Roof in West Ashley. This lively event is hosted once a month and will be a night of fun and entertainment.
