LGBTQ Visitors Get Lucky in Reno Tahoe this Spring

Travelers visiting the urban basecamp of Reno Tahoe can take advantage of new and vibrant experiences this spring.  From a new hotel primed to help guests rest and relax to annual events that attract visitors from all over the country, see below for exciting new openings and opportunities:

Kicking off the month of May, the Best Bet Motor Lodge will open its doors in the trendy MidTown District with 21 boutique rooms. Designed and crafted by the brilliant minds behind the historic 6-room hotel, The Jesse, this pet-friendly stay reimagines the modern American motor lodge with thoughtful floral design and green accents, locally made bed frames and woodwork, and ample natural lighting. Amenities include full access to the property’s on-site Reno Sauna Club, bookable wellness services such as massages and sound healing from local partners, Bliss Bus, patio access, and more. 

For dining, The Foodshed Cafe, recently opened under the management of the Great Basin Community Food Co-op and features dishes curated from organic, local, single-source clean food. With vegan, paleo, seed-oil-free, and gluten-free options, everyone is welcome to delight in what the region’s agriculture offers downtown. Local draft beer and regional wines are also available. On June 7th, Food Truck Friday, a staple event in Idlewild Park featuring 40 gourmet food trucks, will kick off its weekly run until the last Friday of August. Locals and visitors alike can indulge in bites that please every flavor palette with a rotating selection and a record 70 registered vendors for 2024. 

Ahead of the main classic car and rock n’ roll festival in August, guests can get a sneak peek at the iconic Hot August Nights with Hot August Nights Spring Fever Revival at Grand Sierra Resort from May 17th to 18th. See up to 400 mobiles ranging from rare vintage cars to hot modern wheels. At The Biggest Little Block Party In The World, Downtown Reno transforms into a thrilling music and food festival under the iconic Reno Arch with two main stages and massive production elements such as lasers, pyrotechnics, and state-of-the-art lighting and a ‘Silent Disco’ for those who want a more intimate experience. Aside from the entertainment, a variety of local food trucks, full-service bars, local small businesses for shopping, and live art installations are available to celebrate the eclectic culture of the Reno community.

On June 7th, the Reno River Festival starts with a three-day celebration of the urban basecamp’s culture, cuisine, and interactive experiences that amasses thousands annually. The festival features diverse entertainment, including an adventure park, local food trucks, art vendors, a performance-packed music festival, and the iconic Great Reno River Rally–a guided rafting tour down the Truckee River.
