Pride Journey Summer Getaway: Champaign County, Illinois

Allerton Park and Retreat Center

Explore 14 miles of hiking trails, wander through formal gardens with over 100 garden ornaments, and marvel at the quiet, expansive grounds. Stay on-site as well in the Allerton Mansion or a number of in-park lodges that offer beautiful 20th-century aesthetics for a weekend away or quick overnight trip.

Japan House and University of Illinois Arboretum

Japan House aims to make the beauty of traditional Japanese arts and culture accessible to everyone. The University of Illinois Arboretum encompasses the grounds of the Japan House providing numerous areas to explore. Enjoy peace and tranquility as you spend some time in these areas for reflection or to simply enjoy your surroundings. Paved paths, hand-crafted gazebos (one by woodworking legend Nick Offerman), and an impressive array of trees make for a relaxing outdoor adventure.

Riggs Beer Company

Following traditional German brewing, the Riggs brothers utilize just four ingredients in all of their beers. Utilizing grains from their own family farm, and those grown on the property, a typical month uses about 1500 pounds of their own grain. They also proudly run off 90-100% solar power. Their outdoor beer garden features plenty of room for soaking up the sun and a 200-seat indoor taproom offers a cozy place to sip, chat, and enjoy local food trucks who are stationed outside.
