Two Pocono towns provide train excursions during the fall foliage season: Jim Thorpe and Honesdale.
The Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway takes passengers along the Lehigh River for majestic views of Lehigh Gorge State Park and other features surrounding this charming, historic town.
The Stourbridge Line takes passengers along the Lackawaxen River to Hawley and beyond for a great look at both towns and nature in between. Plus, PA Rail Bikes in Hawley lets you pedal along the railroad and river too! Honesdale features Harvest and Heritage Days the first weekend in October and Hawley holds Hawley Harvest Hoedown the weekend before.
Milford also will host its annual fall festival the last weekend in October. Spend the day in Milford celebrating all your fall favorites with costume contests, pooch parades, and so much more! The day begins with the second annual Pooch Parade beginning at the The Columns Museum. The day does not end there, head to the Community House for live music, pumpkin painting for kids, a seed swap, costume contests and Scarecrow Judging. This town has it all including stellar dining and nightlife options too! Plus it’s right next to the Delaware River and Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area including its waterfalls (Raymondskill and Dingmans).
