Arts and Culture Expansions
City of Marquette Arts & Culture Center
The renovation of the former Marquette Chamber of Commerce building at Marquette Lions Lakeside Park represents a significant shift toward a public, centrally located, vibrant cultural and recreational space in Marquette County. Once completed, this public venue will create a new community hub that merges culture with outdoor activities, while also serving as a central starting point for year-round regional trails and a gateway to downtown Marquette.
Michigan Arts and Council Grant
In 2024, the artistic and cultural tapestry of Marquette, Michigan, will undergo an exciting transformation as it welcomes $600,000 in grants dedicated to fostering creativity and education. This generous support, facilitated by the Michigan Arts and Culture Council grant, reaches far and wide, offering vital assistance to several U.P. arts and cultural organizations throughout the area. These funds will support artistic endeavors, cultural reservation initiatives, and educational programs in Marquette and beyond.
Respect Marquette County Coalition
An ongoing initiative throughout Marquette County, Respect Marquette County Coalition advocates for taking care of natural spaces, encouraging everyone—locals and visitors—to appreciate the region's history and protect its natural treasures. Moving into 2024, this program will expand, presenting additional initiatives and workshops in collaboration with Leave No Trace, mirroring the success of the 2023 events. This coalition aims to unite the community, fostering a joint commitment to protect and cherish the natural wonders of Marquette County.
