Winter Wonderland: Detroit

Winter lovers can rejoice as we begin to welcome the season and get festive downtown and in the Detroit metro area! Celebrate the season and check out the 19th Annual Detroit Tree Lighting. Marvel as 19,000 twinkling, multi-colored lights illuminate a 60-foot Norway spruce and enjoy local entertainment and treats! You can also light up your holiday with Wild Lights at the Detroit Zoo or a drive through the Wayne County Lightfest.

During the holidays, at the pop-up Cadillac Square Markets and Capitol Park Markets, glass huts with rotating vendors let you shop small and local for food, clothing, home goods, gifts, and more. You can also enjoy holiday shopping with All Things Detroit events at Eastern Market, or Detroit metro area shopping malls. In the new year, enjoy Winter at Valade along the Detroit Riverfront, featuring sledding, hot drinks for kids and adults, winter games like curling, fires, roasted marshmallows, and much more.

Bundle up, enjoy the great outdoors, and go ice skating at Campus Martius! Once the snow starts to fall, take your snowshoes or cross-country skis to one of the Detroit area Metroparks or Belle Isle State Park and experience an outdoor recreation haven!
