Winter Wonderland: Savannah, Georgia

The highly anticipated holiday season has arrived! The beautiful city of Savannah is known for its history, beauty, tours, and dining – but during the Holiday season, it gets brighter and merrier than ever. Whether it is the classic tree lighting and caroling, or oyster-shucking and hot ciders, all the way to boat parades and artisan holiday markets on the riverfront, Savannah truly bedazzles during the wintertime. The temperate weather and endless activities add to the holiday cheer. What’s better? The city's inclusive atmosphere ensures that everyone experiences southern hospitality at its finest. A warm welcome certainly awaits you in Savannah! So here are a few winter must-dos while in Savannah:

Go on a Historic House Tours

The cold weather is a perfect reason to take a few house tours around the city. Savannah is home to numerous mansions that have been converted into museums, filled with period pieces and tales of the past owners. Marvel at the unique meeting of the beginning of Savannah with the customs and architecture of the times. Some of our favorite spots include The Davenport House Museum, The Harper Fowlkes House, The Owens-Thomas House and The Andrew Low House. In fact, some like Andrew-Low still practice beloved Victorian-era traditions and enactments!

Holiday Celebrations Galore

The Savannah Christmas Market Plant Riverside District is an extravagant display of events, live performances and fireworks that magically lights up the Savannah river.

December Saturdays are best spent witnessing local dance groups and choirs to improv storytellers and live bands in downtown. And while in downtown, explore Savannah’s city market and Broughton street that is home to some of the choiciest Savannah shops and galleries.

The Tree Lighting Ceremony and Boat Parade of Lights is a perfect way to celebrate with family and friends. For a complete list of Savannah holiday events, check out Savannah Holly Days!

Stay at a Romantic B&B

The Kehoe House is offering Anniversary and Honeymoon Packages from now until Dec 31st. The Kehoe House is an exquisitely restored 1892 Renaissance Revival mansion in Savannah's Historic District.
